  • Menopause Warriors Charity Small Group PT sessions

    We commissioned Kirsty to deliver a free pilot personal training programme targeted at people experiencing menopause in the G51 area of Glasgow. 

    Given that anxiety is a prevalent symptom associated with perimenopause, menopause, and post menopause—affecting approximately 70% of the menopause community—it can serve as a significant obstacle to engaging in regular exercise, often compounded by financial constraints.

    From week one, the small group personal training format (4 participants) created an incredibly supportive environment. Training alongside others experiencing menopause has been invaluable.

    Facilitated by Kirsty, the group has encouraged each other during workouts and celebrated many victories including increased strength, more regular daily movement, and taking time out for personal self-care.

    The programme was developed for 6-weeks initially. With the positive engagement and feedback, a further 6-weeks was commissioned, during which Kirsty developed the exercises to support continued progression, and in response to feedback from participants. 

    Using her qualification and understanding of menopause, alongside personal training, Kirsty designed a programme that allowed participants to build the foundations of strength and mobility exercises, supporting their overall health and wellbeing.

    Participants reported enjoying the sessions, increasing their mobility, and feeling more confident in daily activities putting their increasing strength into action, all evidence of the positive results of the work.

    Additionally, the group supported each other in conversations about their experiences of menopause in the sessions, demonstrating the safe and supportive environment created in the sessions.

    Due to the success of this pilot project exceeding our expectations, we will adopt this format for future sessions.
